I've noticed the MSI PSU ratings on Cybenetics don't align with their own website. Why is that?

MSI's power supply sometimes exceed the efficiency rating on our official specifications, as certified by third-party platforms like 80 PLUS or Cybenetics. Many people are curious about the reason behind this. In fact, we need to ensure that every consumer receives a product that meets their highest expectations.
Why is there such a difference?
Simply put, the performance metrics we list on our product pages represent the minimum standard that we guarantee our products can achieve.
Take our new MAG A1000GLS PCIE5 as an example. We have rated its efficiency as "Gold" grade. During the development and production verification process, we take 100 sample units.
In this process, we found that approximately 20% of the samples could achieve a higher efficiency, even higher than the Platinum grade. While we could have claimed a higher efficiency and increased the price, it would mean that 80% of the products would have a lower efficiency than what we claimed. That's not what we set out to do.
We ensure that all consumers can purchase a product that meets our promised specifications, with the possibility of receiving a product that performs even better.
Why do certification lab data differ?
As for certification lab like 80 PLUS, Cybenetics, or PPLP, we typically provide samples that meet the minimum efficiency grade (approximately 85%) to ensure that the certification results accurately reflect our promised product specifications.
Additionally, since each certification platform uses slightly different certification standard, it is normal for the final efficiency data to have minor variations.
In summary, it's possible that you will purchase an MSI power supply that performs better than expected, but you will never get one that performs worse.
